January 25, 2010

Hello Classmates,

2010 is here and we are getting ready to celebrate our Tulsa Central High School 50th Class Reunion.

We will gather the weekend of June 4-5, 2010, at the Tulsa Radisson Hotel, 10918 E.41 Street, Tulsa, OK 74146. (41st & Garnett). The room rate at the Radisson is $92.00. We will have a hospitality room at the hotel where you can check in and receive all your registration materials. It will be staffed Thursday afternoon through Saturday afternoon. Dress for all activities for the weekend will be casual.

Golfers, you will meet on Friday morning; tee time yet to be determined. The fee will be $65.00 per person. Emerald Falls Golf Club course, 30510 E. 63 Street, Broken Arrow, OK 74014, is the newest golf course in the Tulsa area and was designed by our classmate, Jerry Slack. Thanks to Jerry you will be playing on a spectacular course. Check it out at: http://www.golflink.com/golf-courses/course-clubhouse.aspx?course=2054256

Friday evening at 6: p.m. everyone will gather for our Meet and Greet time at the Stokley Event Center, 10111 E 45th Pl. It is not far from the hotel and the hotel will provide shuttle service to and from the event center. For those who prefer to drive, a map will be provided in your registration material. The center has free pinball machines and several foosball tables. There is a huge wall-size map of downtown Tulsa and if you remember the local streets you can find Tulsa Central and many other downtown landmarks. Mr. Stokley has decorated the room with neon signs from all over Tulsa that you might remember. We will have a juke box available for "light on their feet" couples. BBQ and drinks will be furnished and there will be a cash bar.

Saturday morning we will start the day with breakfast (your cost) for all at the Radisson. The hotel breakfast buffet is available 6:30 to 9:30 a.m. They offer a full breakfast or a continental breakfast. When you register please indicate which you prefer. A dining room is reserved for us for this breakfast and we'll have plenty of time to visit with friends and perhaps get acquainted with classmates you did not know "back in the day". Bring your camera.

Later in the morning and in the afternoon you will have time to visit your home neighborhoods, favorite lunch place - if it's still there, relatives, or the Casinos that are now on every side of Tulsa. There's lot's of shopping, too: the flea market at the newly improved fairgrounds, Cherry Street (15th St between Peoria and Utica), Brookside, Woodland Hills Mall, the new Tulsa Hills Mall, and, of course, Utica Square. You might enjoy the Brass Pro Shop on the Broken Arrow Expressway in Broken Arrow if you're the outdoor type. Oh, and don't forgot to save an hour or two for your afternoon nap.

Fred Blakemore has planned a special get-together for the baseball team at 2:00 p.m. at the Radisson in Mulligan's Sports and Spirits.

Saturday evening will be our dinner/dance at the Radisson. The cash bar will open at 6:00 p.m. Dinner will be served at 7:00 p.m. After dinner entertainment will be provided by Mr. DJ. A photographer will be on site during and after happy hour to take Junior High group photos, the class picture, and individual photos by request.

A "memorial of Central High School multi-year nostalgic calendar/almanac" will be available in the hospitality room for perusal and purchase. It features pictures and articles regarding the history of Tulsa Central High school from October, 1884, to September 1976 when the new 47 acre campus was opened, and on to the present time. You will find many reasons to appreciate this calendar and you just might see a picture of someone you know…a relative or friend who also attended Central.

We will also have a very special display of items, on loan to us just for this 50th reunion from the archives at Central, including issues of School Life, programs from stage productions, trophies, and other memorabilia.

Do make plans to attend this 50th Class Reunion. We are excited as we plan these events.

Please complete and return your registration ( Found here ) soon. The cost is $65.00 per person, $125.00 per couple until May 14, 2010. After that date the cost will be $75.00 per person and $145.00 per couple.

We look forward to seeing you again, to sharing memories, and making new ones.
